St. Augustine Diocesan Council

Society of St. Vincent de Paul

Who We Are

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is an international Catholic lay organization which leads men and women to grow together spiritually by offering person-to-person service to the needy and suffering in the tradition of its founder, Blessed Frederic Ozanam, and its patron, St. Vincent de Paul.

As a reflection of the whole family of God, its members, known as Vincentians are united in an international Society of charity, by their spirit of poverty, humility, and sharing which are nourished by prayer and reflection, mutually supportive gatherings, and a basic Rule.

Organized locally, Vincentians witness God’s love by embracing all works of charity and justice, The Society collaborates with other people of goodwill in relieving need and addressing its causes, making no distinction in those served, because in them Vincentians see the face of Christ.

Our Mission

A network of friends, inspired by Gospel values, growing in holiness and building a more just world through personal relationships with, and service to, people in need.

What we do

CONFERENCES: Most of the activities that Vincentians do are with their local Conference. Conferences are small groups of members, usually Parish-based, who meet at least two times a month to pray, socialize, and work together on activities to help those in need in their community. Conferences usually consist of 5 to 20 Active Members and may include several Associate Members depending on the activities of the Conference.

The St. Augustine Diocesan Council also had six Youth Conferences located in Catholic elementary and secondary schools throughout the Diocese. These Conferences meet once a month and participate in activities and service projects that instill in the youth the spirit of loving God and loving Neighbor.

How We Help

Typical support from a conference may include:

Financial assistance for housing, utilities, and other family needs. Food assistance, clothing, furniture, and other household goods.

“No work of Charity is foreign to the Society”, so some Conferences may provide unique, or specialized, services depending on the needs of the community, or the individuals, that the Conference serves. Interaction with other charitable, service, or community organizations may also affect the amount and scope of resources that a Conference is able to provide to those in need

If you would like to request assistance from the Society go to “Need Help” in the Main Menu above
