Joining St. Vincent de Paul

Joining the Society of St Vincent de Paul leads you on a journey toward holiness. Because being a Vincentian is a vocation – a call to serve God in His poor.

It is an opportunity to put faith into action in a practical way and in a spiritual context. Unlike social service agencies, the Society is not simply a material service provider. We should cherish our spirituality and do all we can through prayer, reading Scripture, and most importantly, participating in the celebration of the Eucharist, in order to nurture it. The primary call of the Vincentian life is to see Christ in those we serve. By loving those we serve in this way, we also become the face of God to our neighbors in need. We share the Good News of God’s love, forgiveness, and loving kindness by living out these actions when we interact with the people we serve and with our fellow Vincentians. The spirit of fraternity among Vincentians should glow like a lamp in the dark for others to see how genuinely we love one another.

As a member of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, you are part of a large, international family dedicated to the spiritual growth of all its members. We grow together in holiness and friendship by providing spiritual and material assistance to our brothers and sisters in need. We are sure that you will find your membership a source of satisfaction and many blessings.

If you are interested in exploring the Vincentian vocation, please contact the SVDP Conference in the parish nearest to you. See “Contact Information” on the homepage.  If your parish is not listed, please call 904-631-7092.
